Wedding Exhbition Advice

OFFWITHHERHEAD

I am a hat/fascinator maker about to make the move into the 'big' wedding expos. I mainly have a local clientele and do not sell on line as my hats are bespoke or made to order.

I have booked into a number of events between January and April 2013 and was hoping that my fellow UKB wedding businesses might be able to offer me some advice on getting the most out of wedding events.

Thanks in advance!

A few pointers from me as I've worked for clients in similar situations:

1). Get high quality photographs of your products and high quality designs (companies at big expos will have really top-notch stuff on display)

2). Provide plenty of hat samples people can pick up, feel and try on

3). If you do step 2, also provide a mirror

4). Provide a high quality book containing images of various hats you've made

5). Provide a high quality book containing testimonials from clients

6). Maximise your expo space with roller banners, banners on tables and so on

7). Ensure that the copy on your designs is attention-grabbing and draws people in

Great advice - thanks! I have a professional photo shoot set up this weekend. I will use the images to compile a product catalogue and to create pop up banners.

It is funny, the last show I did, I got more interest and leads through retailers who wanted to stock my range of hats, etc. This will now be another part of my business.

I had thought of renting a retail unit in a smart part of town, however, I think that with the current economic climate, that could be my business over before it really gets going.

The wedding shows can be quite pricey, but at least there is a targeted market there and it is a short burst of time in which I can sell to the right people.

I need to look at hiring a payment terminal so that I can process card payments too.

Dunno about the expos, but my wife is from Canada and when she goes back she gets requests from all her friends over there to bring back facinators. I didn't even know what they were before she showed me!!, anyway she had half a case full last time :). Anyway I guess the message is try Canada!!
