website

I am developing my new website and I am wondering should I have a large number of pages showing my services, or only a few pages as an overview with an option to download a pdf factsheet and an enquiry form.

The site is aimed mainly at bust project, planning and facilities managers/directors who may not have all the time in the world to go through our website but mau appreciate an overview and an option to download a document to read at leasure.

What are your thoughts as a person who would visit a site and as a website developer.

Thanks in advance

I agree with Subbynet. I would use pages, however if your using a CMS such as joomla it will probably have an option to download the page as PDF.
So if a user wanted to keep a copy they could.

I hope this helps.

Many Thanks

The advice I have been given with site content is to try to keep it straight and simple.

If your information documents are large then it may be wise to give a short summary and then the option to download the full document in pdf format.

When you create your pdf files be sure to take the time to set the document properties as this means when your site is indexed that your documents will be indexed properly by search engines. Also set the security settings so you decide if the user can copy, edit, print and annotate your document, good for when the documents are specifically created by you for the purposes of selling your service and so on.

You may find it useful to use a search my site tool such as sitelevel so that customers can search your site for information quickly and easily.

Generally speaking, its not so much using lots of pages but to split the information into sections that are easy to read and to have the information easy to access with the idea of less clicks more hits in mind. Noone minds a site with a hundred pages under each category as long as they dont have to click ten times to get to the information they found described on the main page.

Ensuring that you utilise and put in metatags and keywords for your pages should also help a lot.

Eg Main page milk then sub page rice milk, soya milk, fresh milk, etc

Best of luck!!
