Website structure and conversion

I'm starting a new business and I'm building the website at the moment.

The business will offer 4 main services. Each of these in turn could probably be cut down into 4 smaller subsections.

My first thought is to stick with a page for each of the 4 main services, with a brief explanation of the subsections that make up the service. I'm loathe to add another layer of pages explaining the subsections as I'm envisioning people clicking back and forth, getting fed up and clicking off.

I'm aware there may be an SEO argument for having more content on the site, but I'm coming at it from a consumers point of view and personally I hate having to click back and forth. It will also enable me to put more content on the important 4 services pages and have a better chance of ranking them.

Think I've just answered my own question in writing this but I'd be grateful of any other thoughts!

Drop the slider - conversion killers and take up massive real estate.

Focus on your main service that you offer and make this the main focus - if all 4 are equal in importance have these in a very prominent place.

Then spend some time in looking at the way your site speaks to the user and how your service can solves their problems and make it easy and clear on how the user can take action or get in touch.

Get this right and you won't have to worry about seo structure as your conversion rates will increase and you can invest in better ways to drive traffic that converts.

I think there is no hard coded rule. How much content is too much kind of things. If you have good faq (I mean except your own praising) list then create sub-sections pages as well. The main benefit of more web pages is the scope of website. As much as scope increases, opportunities also increases.

For me, if they are services that add value to the users' visit then you should have them as a page but if these services don't need more than a couple of sentences/paragraphs to explain then they can go on the same page as the appropriate service and use something like a drop down to explain them in more detail

Create a page with a summary of all 4 services, and then link each one to a more in-depth page about each individual service.

You aren't forcing them to click more pages. You're just giving them the option. They can either just read the summary page if they wish, or they can click the link to view more info. It caters to everyone.

This will also depend on how the traffic is entering your site. If your marketing is bringing in visitors who are specifically looking for one of the 4 services, then it would be better to direct them straight to a dedicated page about that service.
