Hi guys

I am currently building my free website using weebly.com. This is my first attempt and I never realised how easy it is. I'm almost finished and was wondering whether I have to use them to host it or can I use an external host? A work colleauge has his website hosted by someone who designed his website for £12 per year which sounds really cheap. Can I do this with mine? He says that she won't host a website that she hasn't created. Is there a technical reason for this? I am not sure what my options are. Any advice appreciated. Thanks

It depends on the type of service you'll require. It sounds as though you're not totally sure of what you're looking for in the world of websites and advertising so it might be best not going for the cheapest but going for the hosting company with the best reviews for customer service, so you can always get help along the way.

I host with both Redstation and Streamline Internet. Varying costs, Redstation are more expensive but have more dedicated services for business and Streamline are best for special offers and discounts on hosting and domains.

Both companies have been great with customer service so far. (5 years hosting with Redstation)

    Hello Amanda,

I'm not to sure if you can host a website made on Weebly with another host. I looked on their site and couldn't find any information about it. Have you tried sending their support an email?

If it is possible I would be able to provide you with a custom plan at around £20/year since your requirements are not too high.

On their website weebly.com it is mentioned 'Hosting Included' so I guess you have the option to host your website with them. You can also consider an external host and pay additional for hosting if you feel their reliability in terms of hosting is in question.

Weebly lets you download your files as a zip. I've had a quick look and these look like standard .html files, but they reference files on the weebly servers (javascript, and css files). I'm not sure hosting a Weebly site on another server is something they'd allow - you'd be best emailing them to find out.

What I'd suggest doing if you want to have a domain / emails elsewhere, is you can just update your 'A' record on the domain elsewhere to point it to Weebly.

Typically most website builder type tools wont allow you to take the site away and host it elsewhere, they typically make their money from the hosting or advertising in the site so don't actually want you taking the site away to be hosted somewhere else. There may also be copyright issues with taking away a design that you don't have permission to use elsewhere so you should check in the Ts and Cs also.

Most hosting companies have some form of easy way to get a web presence for those that don't want to pay the expense of a professional web designer and don't care to much how good it will work.

Things to remember when choosing a website builder type tool, stay away from are Flash based website builders (No good for SEO), check you can use your own domain with the tool, make sure the URLs that it creates are SEOed.

If you have some computer skills it might be worth finding a host that has instant installs of apps like wordpress or joomla which allow you much more freedom to build a website. The pluses are that you can take it with you and you can find plenty of great looking ready made templates for making your site looks less like the default install.

    Good luck

My friends has been using the services of www<dot>247easysupport<dot>com/index<dot>php for quite some time now and has even advised me to go for them. After i had pretty bad experience with my previous service provider, i think i will go with them.

I believe you have to host your website with them.

An alternative is to clone your website in something like WordPress. Our web hosting accounts include a free subscription to our own special SiteBuilder built on WordPress.

i do something called franchising and it will cost you only £5 per month and you will get a fully designed website to suit your needs and also unlimited hosting for free.
but you will need to buy the domain yourself for this or you can pay £6.50 per month for domain, unlimited hosting and a professional site.

but if you only need unlimited hosting then i can do it for £1.50 per month
you will get cpanel hosting (the best there is) with lots of things to do. you will also get unlimited email ect!

contact me via replying to this or visit yfranchise.com and contact me via there.

    Thanks!
