If you can't write code, you have a couple of options; hire a developer to do it or you, or go for a hosted ecommerce store. There's advantages and disadvantages with both. Search for 'open source ecommerce' if you want to find out about self-hosted, and search 'hosted ecommerce' for all of the hosted options.

If you need an absolute lowest cost solution:

1. Find an open source (ergo free) shop/ecom solution. Some mentioned here, others include:

Magento CE - which is fairly heavy weight: http://www.magentocommerce.com/
Wordpress with a store extension
Prestashop - rather popular, lighter weight: http://www.prestashop.com

2. Get hosting, there are plenty of reasonable hosts that offer a good service. Just make sure the server meets the requirements for the store solution. i.e. PHP, MySQL etc. Most hosts can advise. Then install the ecom solution (or pay someone a small fee to install it)

3. Check out themes (skins) for you're chosen solution. Themes for the three mentioned above are plentiful. Edit the skin if needed (i.e. adding your logo, changing the colours). If you are lucky the skin will come with instructions on how to do common things like that; though you may want some assistance.

4. Choose what payment methods you'll accept (i.e. Paypal, payment gateway - i.e. via SagePay) and plug the details into your solution (make sure you're selected methods are compatible with the solution you choose).

Then add you're products and you are away.

You may need some professional assistance to do all that but you could get the kind of support you'd need at a budget.

2. Get hosting. Costs next to nothing :)

3. Check out themes (skins) for you're chosen solution. Prestashop offers a lot of free themes.

4. Choose payment methods you'll accept (e.g. Paypal, or Moneybookers/Skrill who have a deal for lower fees with Prestashop).

Hi There,

I realized that I was going to give you very similar advice to the above, so instead I summarized FISIX's post to what I would recommend in order to simplify things for you :)

Cheers,

Tim
