Website Design Upgrade

I'm not in the market for this right now however it is something that has just crossed my mind and I wondered if its something that Web Designers can do or do.

I am learning HTML, CSS through coding and Dreamweaver and I am creating a basic site. However, its not as professional looking as it could be due to my lack of skills.

Would anyone be able to go over my basic site and tweak it here and there to make it more professional looking? Obviously it wouldnt be as much work as say starting from scratch. A logo etc would all be in place

I do a fair bit of this, it's perfect for those who only want subtle changes like different images, new banners, add buttons etc.

Any web dev should be able to do this for you and would charge by the hour

yes - any web company can do this - but don't think that it will always be cheaper - not necessarily. sometimes it is simpler and easier for a web company to start from scratch than to spend time going through someone else's code.

worth taking a different approach...

find a web company, talk with them about what you want to acheive and then work out with them what you can do to save money, and where you need their skills - you will end up with the same result, but cheaper.

I will say from experience that we have done this before and working with clients who have some knowledge can be very rewarding - and work can happen much faster.

One of the biggest time savers I guess would be having a client who at least understands how the whole thing works so you don't spend an age explaining what you have done and why you have done it.

That's why external agencies love working with me...I have a decent understanding of what they are doing and can articulate my requirements clearly. :D
