website Construction

Hi,

I wanted to know if anyone can advise me on building a website. The fucntionality can be closest compared to a jobsite. I have a basic understanding of websites as I have built a couple of my own using wordpress.

What I want to know is where is the best place to get help building it? Can anyone recommend a freelancer site or a company that won't rip me off?

Even if you could tell me what I need I.e. Java to make it function it would help me to explain what I need to whoever is doing the work!

I look forward to your responses,
Thanks!

Wordpress has plugins that will do this. The most common is Jobpress (which is a theme as well) but there are others which a quick google will throw up names.

If you wanted a more unique theme and just wanted to run a plugin then there are few free ones such as http://wordpress.org/extend/plugins/wpcareers/ but there are also commercial ones.

I am a wordpress developer, if you want any help on the project just send me a PM.

Why would PHP cost less?

Certainly coding time can be less in other languages/ frameworks and think its strange to state that the hourly rate for all PHP developers is less than those specialising in other languages/ frameworks.

If your looking for freelancers there are no end of sites like Guru where you can engage with them and offshore companies. As always, make sure you do your due diligence on the bidders before hiring any of them.

Hi there

You could do this using PHP/MySQL to store and process your information. You'd need a section where users could add jobs, manage them (edit and deleting), and also where users can search/apply for jobs. I would estimate a good php designer would charge 400+ for this.

Alternatively, JobPress which uses Wordpress does seem like it could do the job. It's already built on a PHP/MySQL foundation so its the same thing but saves you a lot of time doing your own coding.

I would recommend learning more about Jobpress and if it has the features you want, just get a Wordpress designer to customise the theme for you. I'm doing a similar project for a client at the moment. It may be the most cost-effective option for you.

Thanks,

I developed a Recruitment agencies candidate management system a while ago and hold rights to redistribute. They work in the industrial sector, as the work has already been paid for I could offer you a version at a small fee.
