Hi
So I’ve not been online for a while, we are a small joinery Manufacturing company, I came on here last year but having a baby has delayed me progressing this side of things. We have had a meeting with a guy today who showed us squarespace which we loved but the price seemed a lot. So I’m just looking for some advise on who you used? Or if you have done one using squarespace?

Right .. at a much lower price you can buy web hosting service with any other provider offering free sitebuilder, which more of them do and get your site working for quit less cost.

Do not use Squarespace or Wix or stuff like that for your business. Do not use anything DIY for your business, period. Not only do they cost a lot more than what they offer, but they are generally of bad performance and limited capabilities.

Nowadays you can get a decent looking website for little money. As a business owner you should be focusing on developing the business, not its website. Time spent on the latter is opportunity cost.

Ok so a lot of different replies! Thank you for everyone who took the time to respond.

We need a website now & the one we have isn’t great so we are wanting something which is a good place to view what we are about, show enough of our products to get people enquiring, and ideally a page listing products like we are starting to list on eBay.

We were told by a web guy about squarespace but we don’t really care which software is used, we just want it to look good on all devices, be able to meet the above with linking our social media, happy to pay a company to do it but a quote of £1500-£2000 with a£30 monthly maintenance fee seems a lot? For a website which will be quite simple!

So can you tell us a bit more about what you want it to do? It's still hard to work out if the price is high or not. Do you need it to be designed and branded? Do you want to be able to sell products from the website?

    Hi Pail,
We want a website that has an about us, products, links to our social media, where we can control uploading content, plus a contact page, with map, facebook and insta links, plus a page with a ship so we can list items. I have seen a site I am quite keen to do similar to if this helps?

Honestly I know not everyone likes Wix but you can create a unique website which is easy to create and maintain. They have so many features now that you could do way more than what you need. The cost would be no more than £20 per month. I have used Wix in the past and created some great websites.

Hi, I create the majority of my clients websites using Squarespace unless they need something completely bespoke and unique plugins which the majority of my clients don't.

It is a fantastic platform if you just require a professional looking website that is responsive to showcase your business. The quote that the web designer gave you depends on how much work would be involved and can really vary for example if you need custom designed graphics or css editing that will bump the price up.

    Happy to chat if needed.

    Thanks,
    Ashley
