The trend for more and more businesses to use video on their website is spreading. Helped by the growth in broadband there is now an expectation amongst most Internet users that they will be able to access information quickly in the form of short, professionally produced clips.

Stuart Hirst Limited is the oldest advertising agency in the UK and like most agencies has been repositioning itself over the last few years to help its clients exploit the developments in digital technology. The latest manifestation of that change is today's launch of their www.businessweb.tv website.

'The new website brings together all our digital services on one easy to find and easy to use site', explained Mike Wappett, Stuart Hirst's Managing Director. 'Over the last 12 months we have worked hard to build a fantastic team of talented video production professionals, offering everything from filming, to high quality post-production, scripting, sound and graphics. We'll also be promoting our expertise in social media to add a further dimension to video and how clients use it'.

Stuart Hirst Limited has always had a large number of B2B clients and sees this as the area that will grow most rapidly. 'Due to the nature of their products or services a lot of B2Bs website are overly complicated, with information difficult to find or understand', Mike Wappett explained. 'There is huge potential to strip out pages, as much as 50%, and using video make the whole experience more rewarding for the visitor'.

Business Web TV will be offering national coverage using teams around the UK, managed from their Leeds and London offices. The new website includes a range of 'Starter Packs' intended to make the process of switching to video less daunting and more affordable.

I don't think there's any doubt that 2011 will the year of online video. Every study shows that it's growing faster and faster. Very soon every small business will need a video to compete effectively online.

I completely agree. Using video you can get across so much more information than with text alone. This is what we do at Liquid Productions.

What is going to be interesting is to see how video production changes once mobile devices develop even further.
