Marketing
Marketing cookies are used to track visitors across websites. The intention is to display ads that are relevant and engaging for the individual user and thereby more valuable for publishers and third party advertisers.
Purchasing mailing lists and visitors is not the way to effectively market a website.
You need to:
- Ensure your site is, and continously, optimised for search engines (although when first starting this can take some time)
- Send out press releases to targetted publications and websites
- Maybe offer a competition and post on various competition sites to drive visitors, help with brand recognition and by offering the competition on the basis of a questionnaire you can find this will be an invaluable marketing research tool to enhance and build on your website.
- Gain links from themed and related websites
- Offer a newsletter. Capture visitors email addresses with a double opt in newsletter and this way you can begin to build your own mailing list - a targeted and free mailing list. You can also email to your mailing list with new offers - incentivising and encouraging return visitors and customers.
- Consider targeted Google Adwords for possible immediate visitors
- Offer an area on the site for visitors to recommend your site to others. A simple tell a friend script will work wonders - and if you run this thorugh a database you will be able to report on the results.
Most importantly monitor and track your visitors and marketing. Without this you will not know which of your methods have been successful.
Good as you can set your limit and it's a cost per click thing.
It's £6 to join - just so they know you're serious and then you set your cost per click as low as £0.04 per click. Obviously, a £1 CPC will get you more customers than a 4p one - you'll be higher ranked but a limit of say £2 per day means that you won't spend over £60 per month. I was getting 20 hits per day, with this then rose to around 80 - 100, max was 270! Introduced myself to a totally new gang of people.
Also, can pause it at anytime and check your account online - therefore if you're a bit short of funds one month, pause it for a week and take a breather. I updated by website and when anticipating this, paused my google ad for a couple of weeks, then un-paused it just as i re-launched the website!
