Web Site Gone AWOL

One of my sites has disappeared from Google.

It used to be on page 1, now it's not even in the first 20 pages. I can't find it in any google listings at all.

The logs are showing that it was spidered on 13th October, listed on 17th October, today. It doesn't say 'Dropped' or anything similar. My PR is still showing as 5 and the web site is still running ok, it's just not visible anywhere on a search.

Is this a temporary blip or should I get out the noose and find the nearest tree?

OK, it's been three days and my site is still nowhere to be seen on Google, although it is still top of the listings at Yahoo.

Traffic logs are showing that the visitors have halved!

I don't really want that yellow noose, I could do with seeing my site back where it belongs.

How long should I wait?

You are seeing the results of the lastest Google algo "update"... Lots of site's have lost their rankings...
Theory has it that Google is now putting more weight on high value links rather than just random inbound links.

Their is also a rumour that Google may have lost some of their data during the "update" as a lot of website's are reporting a massive increase in Google spidering (Panic spidering).

My advice would be to just sit it out, wait for the dust to settle and then see who (and more importantly WHY) is top of the rankings for your chosen keywords.

Don't even think about the noose, take it away from our mind straight away. That is not the way to react in this situation. letting your friends and family find you like that is appalling, shame on you!

Far better to throw yourself off a ship and create a bit of mistery, ala Robert Maxwell.

Is he dead, is he alive?
