Web hosting, Domains Email

I have been getting free web hosting, domains and mailboxes from a company when I purchase broadband connections, however a shift in wholesale supplier means that we are coming to a level where we have equal numbers of connections to hostings, so I need to start looking at the market.

We basically get the tag changed to them, then they do the rest, or alternatively we give them the new domain that the customer requires.
We have access to their portal where we can order mailboxes.

We sell IT support but is not something that I want to end up draining our resources, as I am aware that the profitability is minimal.

It is important that we get a good reliable service, this is not one of our core products but a good retention tool, the company prides itself on customer service levels, it is our unique selling point, so we expect nothing but that from our suppliers.

Any recommendations will be appreciated. Thanks :)

Thanks servwise, I looked at the site today with our IT guys, sure you will be hearing from us soon once we get chance to look at our own plans in more detail, we are thinking on the lines of a Linux package. I am sure when we manage to all sit down and build a detailed plan of action we will be touch with questions. Many Thanks

I hope our services fit the bill. I have sent you a discount coupon via PM as a small incentive. :)

your services are certainly great, but we have 5 star customer support as well.

That's strange because our support has been awarded 6 stars.

Not sure who gave them to us, I think there domain was truly-the-best-ultimate-hosting-support-awards-uk.ru.

They wanted a link in exchange for the award but we haven't been arsed to put it up yet. Guess that means we didn't win... :(

Hi Trish,

It sounds like you are looking for a reliable services provider to strike a long term relationship with and who you can rely of for support. In which case I think we can help, we are already working on a similar basis with a number of design agencies.

It will be difficult to determine whether we are the right choice for you over the forum, but feel free to give us a call on the number below and we can discuss your business and exactly what it requires. My initial thoughts are that our reseller package would fit the bill.

Thanks,
Paul

Honest feedback? how is offering an unlimited amount of something that is inherently limited being "honest"?

My comment was just attempting to highlight just how absurd the phrase "5 star" is, how is your support "5 star", what does "5 star" actually mean, who decided your support was 5 star and how did they come to the conclusion?

I'll grow up when you start taking sense my friend and not before. 3:p

unlimited means unlimited, no strings attached or fair use policies.

I haven't ever seen it say "unlimited" also means "within our fair use policy" in any dictionary I've ever read.

If anyone else is wondering about why some hosting companies like to offer unlimited space and bandwidth then please read my blog post about this very subject. "The truth about unlimited bandwidth plans"

5 star is the feedback the customer gave (entirely his term), so however absurd it may seem to some people that is his feedback nevertheless, nothing to do with me.

Which customer? in that case our support is "The dogs bollo*ks" according to one of our loyal (London based) customers. Maybe that should be my new slogan..... :) ummm maybe not....

There is no such thing as unlimited bandwidth or space period.

Bandwidth: Lets say you have a 100MBit connection between the server and the router. The maximum usable bandwidth is around 4,000GB per month.

    Therefore is not unlimited

Diskspace: Again disks have a limit so unlimited does not exist.

I really hope I'm not in your shoes when someone tries to upload gigabytes of information to your servers or runs an IRC or file sharing site as it could/would cripple your servers and all the other customers on that box.

In addition you are bound by the terms of use of the either the host if you are a reseller or the server supplier if you run your own servers and after checking your IP address you are bound by a fair use policy by the ISP who I won't mention at this point so therefore anyone you host is also bound by that policy.
