hello all,
im currently looking for a web developer to help build and maintain a site in return for equity in the online business that is generated by the site,
the site is unique and there isnt any noticable competition.

theres a massive gap in the market that we will be targeting, with incredible growth over the past 12 months.

if your interested, please feel free to to PM me

Salesguru,
These offers come up every now and again and are, to my knowledge, never taken up.
If a web developer is halfway decent at what he does he won't want to start another business, especially when he is bearing the risk for someone else's idea and activity.

I suppose you might get a bit of interest if you are offering a large equity stake, say 35%, but if it is such a good idea why don't you raise the money, keep the equity and conquer the world yourself?

Have you wondered why there is no competition? Maybe it hasn't worked before. But if it really is unique, with potential for incredible growth then borrow money or sell equity to a VC firm to get enough capital to really make a go of it.

hi nuno,
money isnt an issue.
i run a succesfull business.

The issues are versatility, commitment, loyalty, time.

these are all things that a salary or fee will not get you.

im looking for someone to work with me, not for me.

i appreciate your effort nuno.

    hi nuno,

It depends what you want, if you want a web developer to create a vision for the service and lead the task by his/her own accord then giving an equity stake is useful. But if you know what you want - then giving up equity is potentially money down the drain.

If money isn't an issue, I would recommend looking for a developer who would like equity plus a small basic salary to really sink his time into your project.

    Good luck.

I think what Salesguru is looking for is a partner in their new business idea. Pitched that way I can see someone being interested. Not everyone is a developer and recognising your skill set is good.

You'd really need to sell the idea, and then find someone that has the spare time to devote to the project if they believe in it. From your end, make sure they're committed and have the necessary skills.

I'd imagine any person potentially getting involved would want to feel secure in their equity stake, and have a decent size stake, so do make sure that's all ready to go (docs and so forth).

    Good luck!
