Hi,

Just curious how any of you guys get insurance for your business? We're looking to get a new policy for parts of our business and it seems as soon as you advise them you do web hosting, design websites (even if it isn't the main part of your business) the insurance company advises they aren't interested?

Very few companies actually seem that interested.

You may want to try going through the FSB for your business insurance. The year before we went direct to an Insurance company for all our Business insurance and the FSB this year was less than half what we paid the year before.

They are not interested, because your business is online.

HI,

There seems to be an update on this thread although the original post appears to have been made a couple of months ago.

We provide professional indemnity insurance using a number of insurers. The difference with using us is you also receive advice. Many of the direct insurers do not offer advice. In fact there are only a couple of insurers who offer business insurance direct so probably only scrapping the surface.

We recently placed insurance for a web designer who also subcontracted work. A direct insurer could not cater for this yet I believe it is common practice to maybe do the graphic design or some print work too. The risk here is a web designer may be accused of plagiarism by another company.

I think the problem you have with alot of the big boys (such as the direct lines etc) is they cant compete with the likes of the current providers on the market.

I do know Hiscox are currently offering a good product at reasonable cost, We do have other markets as well so feel free to get in touch if you need another costing produced.

All in all you have hit it on the head, just keep calling & calling, if you do go direct make sure you check the policy well upon receipt to make sure it suits your needs.
