Hi All,

I am researching starting my own web development and design agency.

I was wondering if people had any comments on good or bad experiences with these type of agencies.

Too expensive?

You know where your going, and tell them what you want,or do you expect to be guided by the angency, and prefer to be told if there is a better way?

Thinks you found useful with customer services/project updates

These kind of things, I look forward to hearing about your experiences!

Many thanks, Paul

There are all sort of things out there, really a mix bag. I have herd some terrible experience from people and seen some good people in action. Got few IT clients, been in business for almost a year and doing great in web design, SEO, social media and App development, all bcaz they themselves are very competent and particular about customer service but not all companies are same.

It is a pretty broad set of questions you ask. Even the range of services of web development and web design are very broad.

Overall there are very many suppliers, it is all a question of what they specialise in, in terms of services and markets

What are your objectives , do you want to just keep yourself busy or do you want to be the next biggest employer in the UK?

I'm bias as I own an agency, but... here goes:

    Hi All,

I am researching starting my own web development and design agency.

    Good luck!

Can't answer that really, well I can, but I won't.

    Too expensive?
That depends how you value things and how you value what the agency brings. Some agencies aren't that expensive, some will dwarf your typical mortgage; i.e. those who are really cutting edge and have a brand who's who portfolio.

You know where your going, and tell them what you want,or do you expect to be guided by the angency, and prefer to be told if there is a better way?
I can answer from the other side of the equation; it varies from client to client. It's a question with no answer.

Some know what they want to achieve but don't know how to get there and want you to advise them, tell them what is best.

Some of them have clear ideas of their own but want clarification, advice and guidance (these are the most common, know what they want but also want affirmation and your input and guidance).

Others however have very clear ideas of what they want, how they want to get there, how they want things to work.

Heck we've had clients who have basically already designed the whole thing in their minds in every detail and basically just want you to build it.

Sometimes you get people who jump in and want to put their own creative flair into it and be as much a part of the design process as they can be. i.e. if you end up working for a creative type; they can be pretty involved.

Then you have everything in between. All kinds of people.

Thinks you found useful with customer services/project updates
Not sure what you mean by this, but a good agency will deliver regular updates throughout development and provide ongoing support agreements, development agreements if needed and so on.

There are great agencies out there and there are terrible agencies out there. Just like any business, there are great, terrible and everything in between.
