We won Theo Paphitis #SBS Twitter Competition!

I was totally amazed this morning to find out we were one of yesterdays 6 lucky winners of Theo Paphitis's Small Business Sunday #SBS competition which takes place every Sunday.

If you're not familiar with this competition (which i wasnt until yesterday) you get two and a half hours every sunday between 5pm and 7:30pm to write to Theo on Twitter telling him about your business, i found this by accident and thought to myself, "what the hell im here now" and sent my tweet in.

Theo then looks through all the tweets personally (usually around 2000 according to the stats) and chooses his favourite 6 to re-tweet to his 200,000 fans and followers on Twitter.

I arrived to the shop this moring to find 4 messages on my answering machine from previous winners wanting to congratulate me and about 400 new followers / mentions on twitter!

Now im wondering what i can do to get the most out of this? should i write a press release? plaster it all over my website etc?

What should i do now?

I don't want to dampen your spirits... but you'll probably find that any success you enjoy from this will be transient.

I suppose you could write to your local rag and tell them your story, but I'm not convinced they'd be falling other themselves to write a story on it.

Alternatively, splash it across your website as one of Theo Paphitis' SBS winners.

How do you tell Theo about your business, isnt a tweet only 100 characters or something (you can tell i dont use twitter!)

We won it back in August (there's a thread about it somewhere) - we got some extra traffic it from it, but I think the biggest benefit was 'getting a pat on the back' from Theo - (as you will know) starting and running a business is not easy and it needs a lot of self-motivation to get you through the inevitable lows. Getting recognition is always nice!

And a couple of weeks ago we got notification that we will be invited to the first #SBS get together on 30 March in Birmingham. I think all winners are invited, so you'll want to save that date.

EDIT: it seems those names next to his winners tweet arent the winners....so where is the list in his tweet??? Twitter is very odd and incredibly confusing!
