Good afternoon all, I'm in the process of set up our first warehouse, and wondered if anyone could advise on costs for start up/fitting/operating the warehouse that i have missed and should watch out for? Warehouse Lease / Rent Business Rates Insurance Utilities / Security Pallet Racking Picking Racking / System WMS Forklift Packout station Packaging Materials etc
Water rates including surface water drainage charges What size warehouse? A smaller one may come under the threshold for business rates. Potentially wooden slats or decks for your racking Think about racking aisle widths and usability WiFi network / repeaters - WiFi may transmit well in a nice open room but once those racks are full it's a different story! Insurance costs will depend on what you are doing with the warehouse - is it for your own or other goods? - What type of goods - Value of goods and all other property etc etc - Size of your business and employees etc etc - Location & Security Speak to an Independent Insurance Broker - they will usually be able to give you some guidance on price, but will need some detailed information/forecasts.
