Hi everyone my first post on this forum :D

I am only 24 years old and am a very business minded person and when i want to do something i will go ahead and do it and achieve it

I started my own window cleaning business nearly 3 years ago :D and it is now in good profit with constant work for me and 2 staff full time mon-fri. I could expand and get more vans on the road but the hassle and headache is very high !

I am very happy with the window cleaning business and do not want to expand as i have an eye for another market.

I have always wanted to open my own massage business (specialising in just massages) with 2/3 girls working their and i just could run it behind the scenes.

I know a lot about the market and have done a lot of research and will not be doing manicures or any other similar services. I have decided to stick to just massages nothing else. I have done the same with my window cleaning business - I just offer a monthly window cleaning service i dont do 1 off cleans or gutter cleans or conservatory roof cleans etc.

This massage shop i will be planning on opening will be in the main town centre with a modern fresh look and will appeal to all age groups. I will be offering 25 minute massage around £20 and a 50 minute massage for around £40, Customers can choose from a full body massage to just a foot massage or even an indian head massage.

The only problem i have with opening this business is that i may be in their all day getting a massage ! Haha

What are your thoughts on this?

Thanks

Well if you have done your market research and identified there is enough demand at the location that you want to offer the service from and you know which marketing channels to use to reach your target audience...then I am not quite sure what you want to know from members of the forum?

Not sure where you are based but I have a friend that does sports and relaxation massages and she charges far more than that and doesn't work from a retail premises.

Can't really see how you would make a profit at these prices when you have to cover all your shop and marketing costs, pay the women that you will be employing and make a profit for yourself.

I would echo Ethical PRs points - is there a market for this in the location? Do enough people want this service?

And of course can you make a profit doing it?

It sounds to me like your initial overheads will be quite high so I'd recommend creating a cashflow forecast. You'll need to factor in all the usual things like rent, rates, gas, electricty & wages plus daily supplies like the oils or towels etc that you'll need. That must mean laundry costs too? Presumably there'll be a cost to decorate & furnish the place to start with so how much cash do you need for that & how quickly do you expect to get it back? And of course to get the business off the ground you should build in a marketing budget too.

Once you work out all of your regular overheads you can compare that to your predicted pricing to work out how many customers you need each day / week / month to break even. Is that a realistic figure? If not, how much would you need to increase your prices to before you're making money? And is that a realistic price for your marketplace?

The numbers will tell you a huge amount about the feasibility of this. Be sure to over-estimate your costs & under-estimate your income though because that's more likely to get you to realistic numbers.

Let us know if you decide to go ahead!
