Hi All,

Simple inquiry. I think.
We are opening up a new building that currently has no facilities like sink or toilet installed. We were told by an advisor that to have the building open to the public 3 days a week , its a legal requirement to have a working W.C Toilet. Is this correct?

Hope y'all can help!

Consistency

I know of plenty of shops that don't have toilets open to the public.

Greggs
HMV
Sainsburys (The small ones)
Curry's
Argos

The list goes on.

Speaking of toilets, went into BHS today and they had a toilet. 1 disabled toilet. As an able-bodied person, what about our rights to wash our hands without having to bend over?

Probably better to get legal advice as it may depend on the nature of your business.

Will people be eating or drinking on your premises?

Thanks for all response so far!

Nobody will be eating or drinking... so im guessing theres no need to go toilet..

Yep - by law you need to provide at least one toilet for employees from 1-5 in number, a wash basin, and drinking water unless you can argue its completely unreasonable to expect you to do so.
