VOIP Query

Hi,

I currently use No Missed Calls who do a great job of answering my calls.

They will use VOIP and provide me with a number for incoming calls.

Now, is it possible for me to have a setup so I can make calls using this number so it appears on mobiles etc?

One of the telecoms people will probably come along soon to give you the legal answer but.... yes, you can set up the ID of what your outbound line shows.

Certainly one VOIP provider we've used required you to demonstrate you owned the number you wanted showing before they would set it up for you but I do not know if this was a company or legal requirement.

How does that compare with a normal BT landline in terms of rates?

Will a phone just plug into my PC?

Not much difference then.

If I don't use a phone, how will they hear me and me hear them?

If your using the software the other poster commented on, you use your computers speaker and mic or can buy a USB phone to plug into the computer.

We use a different provider and have a physical phone that we use so that the PCs dont have to be on at the same time. It plugs into the router via ethernet rather than into a PC.

There are devices to convert a regular phone to a VOIP phone but online reviews (and pricing) suggested going for a dedicated phone rather than the convertor

More importantly, why are they in control of your telephone number?

Why not get yourself the phone number ported to Gradwell or Voipfone and then have the telephone number redirect to them should you not answer it after one or two rings?

Our set-up is as follows:

Gradwell - £20 a month, unlimited landline calls

If telephone isn't answered within 2 rings, it jumps to Virtuo.me service.

Girls answer call, email me the message or book appointment.

Second that. It's vital that you have control of the number so you can change service provider if needs be.

I started with No Missed Calls when I started the business so they setup the number.

It is not that I had a number and then transferred it.

I like the idea of it transferring after one or two rings though
