Voided paying in slip

Hi, i have just completed a job for a new company and they are asking for a voided paying in slip?

No idea what this is but they wont pay me until i send this, i am guessing its a blank cheque that i just scribble over so it cant be used?

Just guessing of course, have no idea

Thanks for any advice

Many banks still provide you with a pay in book which is used each time you deposit funds into your bank account.

I know I never use this anymore thanks to automated paying in systems (Machines in bank and BACS etc) but your bank should still issue this.

If its a personal account you're using for your business, its likely you won't have this at all, but again, if its a business account, it should really be standard issue.

And yes, you are right, you would just tear out the Pay in slip and mark it as 'VOID' so it can't be used for any purpose other than confirmation of bank details.

I was confused as i have given them my bank details already so i guess they just need hard evidence for their accounts dept

What a hassle

How quaint ! I remember cheques, but haven't used one for a few years.

2 of my 3 business accounts have a cheque book, one was opened in 2003 and the other in 2004 (I've just checked!). For the new one, 2009, having a cheque book was something I would never have thought necessary.

So .... they have your bank details - that's all they need (presumably they were on your invoice anyway - and I haven't send a hardcopy of one of those for about 2 years at least).
