Does anyone use a virtual terminal system such as Paypal have? Or alternatively, have a mobile credit card processing system. If so, what do you find best as I'm having to go down this road to keep up with the competition and want to stay one step ahead. Want something that is not super expensive, but willing to pay for a good system.

We used to use Cash Flows. Zero set up costs, Zero monthly and very friendly and helpful.

We were up and working in 3 days. This is perfect for telephone payments and those Ebay customers who want to pay by card.

Think rates started about 20p per transactions + 3% ish - but they do fall on volume.

Hope this helps.

Just looked on cash flows website

i filled the form in for the virtual terminal application but when i click submit i just get a white screen and no email verification email to continue with my application.

i then tried to use their contact us form and again i just error message when i click submit.

I then filled in their request call back form and that seems to have worked.

Not a good start as i hope their systems doesn't have this many problems.

Retail Merchant Services might be able to help you out there. They do virtual terminal only accounts which are significantly cheaper than a traditional card terminal system. But do look around for the best deals, if you get a good deal, ask RMS to beat it, the market is very responsive to price-matching/beating.

Etiquette: my full time employment is with Retail Merchant Services, so I may be a little biased - but at least you have in the back of your mind ...

Hope you get a great deal!

We stopped using a virtual terminal when faced with the extremely onerous PCI-DSS compliance that using one involved.

Simpler (though more expensive) to have a dedicate POS terminal connected to an analog phone line.

I use Payatrader and their website doesn't do them justice. You can use a virtual terminal, use their call centre or they are about to launch a chip & pin machine. They seem to cover all bases and no monthly payments or minimum monthly fees. It works for me.

We are with Barclays and where my business is located doesn't have internet connect and is costly and difficult to get internet connect. We have a portable card terminal which so far seems to be working fine. It's roughly £30 a month for line rental and terminal hire. It works like it does in a shop, either by card or telephone (taking their card number). Can get more information if you wish just PM me :).

If you do not need to take payment face-to-face with the customer but instead for customers contacting you by telephone to pay then a Virtual Terminal should be suitable. If face-to-face is required then you will need a chip&pin terminal.

We offer a Virtual Terminal from just £10.00 per month including 300 transactions (10p per transaction thereafter) with no setup fee. We provide a Merchant control panel giving you access to the Virtual Terminal as well as reports, full and partial refund, anti-fraud reporting, security settings, statistics and more.

The service requires you to have a MOTO (Mail Order / Telephone Order) merchant account and we can assist you with getting this set up.
