Virtual address for registered office & business address

Hi all,

Who's the best provider for this? Ideally looking for an address in Chester/Manchester that I can use as my registered office and business address. I'm looking to start a limited company from home but don't wish to publish my home address.

Many Thanks

I have not used it personally, but a I know a few people who use bruntwood virtual offices and not had a problem. I have been told they have good customer service, pretty quick to set up and have reasonable prices.

I thought the amendments to the Company Act precluded you from having a "virtual" address as the registered office now, and it had to be the real location where the shareholder/member lists could be checked ?
Its true that the registered office must contain the lists but under the following constraints:-

1) People cannot just turn up out of the blue to request viewing documents, they must write to you and give you some notice, you can charge them per hour to view, but you cannot decline the request (I am sure there might be a few exceptions)

2) You can nominate a SAIL address where the documents can be located elsewhere.

Buy the virtual office service first, then form the limited company and add the virtual addres as the registered office and directors service addresses.

Don't be deceived there are some virtual office companies that only actually provide a PO box and there is no actual office.

Make sure that the virtual office you choose is a real office address that has someone there that belongs to the virtual office provider.

Best of luck!

The term Virtual Office (I am sure you can find a better definition on wikipedia) means, like the name suggests, giving the impression that you operate a physical Traditional Office. By Traditional Office.. I mean you either lease, rent or own the office space, you employ your own staff and have your own email, fax and telephone services for communication.

A Virtual Office is when someone else takes calls in your company name (as if they were your employees) and you have a physical presence/address with mail forwarded on to your actual address (including where applicable electronically) when you actually do not have a permanent physical office located there.

A Registered Office address and mail forwarding alone isn't a Virtual Office in my eyes. Of course, some Virtual Office packages include hotdesk, share office space and even private offices for x amount of hours or days per month.

It is a physical location in the eyes of Companies House because it exists - its not merely the number after the highest house number in the street or a PO Box.
