Views on Trade Finder

I have been approached by website Trade Finder who want to sell me advertising space for £125 plus VAT (originally £250) to guarantee a first page on their website for 7 keywords and will provide some backlinks. They were unable to give me any statistics apparently because of the current system changes.

Has anyone used Trade Finder and if so what was your view as to whether it was worthwhile?

You need to think about it from the prospective of your potential customer. Would they use/trust this site.

Would they search online to find a national website that advertises traders?

I bet they certainly wouldn't look at a national trader site to find someone who sells oriental carpets.

Save your money and invest it in communications channels your research shows you your customers use.

Have you ever used Trade Finder?

It's a pretty naff site and I suspect they are deperate for business. And for them to not provide any stats is very suspiscious. And it's actually run by uniteldirect. And they operate out of shop. I'd avoid them at all costs.

Sorry to bring up a thread from so long ago.

I also get approached by Trade Finder, they usually call once a month asking how the company is etc.

They've offered similar to the OP but at £250 + vat per year. They have basically said they get a generic domain name which they will show on the first page on Yahoo and Bing for seven keywords. Sounds like they rank a domain on the first page and you just rent it off of them. Do you think I will be able to rediect their domain to my company domain so its my URL showing instead of theirs?

Don't believe anything they say. Don't pay them anything. If you are going to redirect then having that ranking domain is pointless (if indeed is does rank well).

Neither. I suspect the keywords will be the 'plastic widget supplier in tintown' variety - which you could rank for in under a day. They won't convert because nobody is searching for this.
