Video presenter on website

i hate them

but i've had clients mention them at least a couple of times. all i can think of is people relate it to TV advertising - or a chance to talk directly to the viewer. personally i dont think there is any place for this sort of media on the internet, or maybe i'm a traditionalist?

LiveFaceOnWeb.com says they can increase conversions by 22%.

I think it depends on the video quality, script quality and performance though.

I have used LiveFaceOnWeb.com and the results were good. They also seem a fair bit cheaper than Easy Web Presenter too.

LiveFaceOnWeb.com - $259 for 15 secs
EasyWebPresenter.com - £450 for 15 secs

I think this is the relevant point.
Like anything that 'moves' on the web, if it's not done well and with a distinct purpose then it will have the opposite effect and just be annoying.
Interestingly, I have one to put up in a few weeks on a project I'm working on.
When it's done I'll post back ( with a tin hat on ) for opinions.

Would be interesting to run through a conversion optimisation and see how it went.

As for people saying "It's annoying" I agree, but so are pop-ups and other things.

However are they so annoying that people don't convert?

I've been building websites for a while now and what I've noticed is that designing websites by what people think works rather than finding out what actually works is the wrong way to do things. However the majority of people still do that.

Means mo' money for me :)

Hi Maxh,

It's not an e-commerce site so I don't have those stats.

It's an information site about my business and services, I have a presenter (me) on every page and I have found it does work well in terms of generating more enquiries.

Also I have the videos embedded as part of the webpage not overlaid.

I will pm you the details of the website so you can have a look and see what you think.

Thanks.

Hi all, I work at Easy Web Presenter and discovered this forum. I really appreciate your honest comments.

I appreciate that web presenters aren’t everybody’s cup of tea and don’t suit all types of websites. However, there are a lot of small businesses out there who are trying to stand out from the crowd. It can be very difficult with a static site to get your message across to the visitor in a short time frame.

I can honestly say that our web presenters have increased visitor time on 100% of sites and all sites have increased online sales (this statement can be supported with google analytical data). The station hotel dudley saw online sales increase from 7 to 160 accommodation bookings per month after deploying a web presenter.

We have recently introduced a monthly rental package to make our products more affordable for smaller businesses. This rental package allows the subscriber to have a new presenter filmed every year on the anniversary of the agreement.

Our aim is to get UK small businesses developing and grow more sales online. Being a small business ourselves we appreciate any feedback or ideas for the product.

Regards
Richard
