Video Marketing Key tool

Video Marketing is becoming a key part in web marketing for companies. Having photos on your site was a big step years ago, and provided potential customers an insight into previous work and/or what services you provide. Now customers and potential clients want to see more. Video is becoming the new marketing tool, which allows vistors to your site to watch a short promotional video that will explain and show them what your company is all about.

What are peoples thoughts on this new marketing tool? Is this something youre company is using? considering using? or do you beleive the marketing results from this tool are not beneficial at the moment?

I see this tool ever developing, especially amongst hospitality businesses (bars, restaurants, hotels etc), and also with tradesman who benefit from almost introducing themselves to potential customers through video on their website.

I think it's definately a good tool to use to market certain products and industries as you have mentioned. We use it for a small number of our products and are currently thinking of ways we can expand on this but with the products we sell a picture is enough really and our business itself wouldn't really benefit from a video about ourselves but i can definately see it working for a tradesman etc. I have seen a number of sites now offering a live webcam even just of their office, which i personally don't think is any more than a gimmic really.

I'm with you Lloyd - but then as we produce this stuff (as well as podcasts, radio & TV) I am perhaps biased

@Simon - Basic packages start from about £370 excluding expenses (travel & accomodation) & VAT with us & give you a days filming at a location of your choice resulting in a professionally produced & edited video, professionally voiced, delivered on DVD & optimised for the web (with techy help to integrate it into your site too & really well priced hosting \ streaming if you need it). If you're interested in learning more drop me a PM & we can talk.

It works really well for all kinds of clients & gives their potential clients an insight into the people & company which they would otherwise lack - you'd be surprised at the amount of information one can gleen from a picture of inside your potential suppliers operations!

We work heavily with Event Radio, TV & Streaming \ IPTV too, so its a business we know inside out :) Recently we also launched "VirtualView" - a production package aimed at estate agents etc to go "one up" on 360 degree virtual tours - this is doing quite well too.

We provide packages from £495 for promotional videos, which include a days filming, and allows for a few days to edit. This is a rough guide, and depending on the promotional work you require this price can fluctuate up and down.

There are various promotional videos which can work for different industries, from viral videos, to company statements. Interviews are becoming a great way to put a face to a company and allow potential clients to get a feel for the people they will be dealing with.

PM me if you wish to discuss further.

P.s. Simon, you are getting quite a few offers here!

Appologies for piggy banking on this thread, but I am starting to display videos with directory listings, so if all you video producers want somewhere for your videos to go, drop me a PM and I will set you up some free listings as demos.

Video is important and will feature more in the future. However, the format for this has to be educational rather than just about the seller.

One of the big topics on the use of video is how it is displayed on a website. There are numerous ways in which a video can be done, but the question surrounds SEO here and whether a video company can outrank a Youtube video on a website, bearing in mind the obvious tie-in between Google and Youtube.

I would appreciate any comments on this as it's a relatively new media to me, although I have used video a lot on other websites.

Well I'm obviously going to be a little biased on this subject, but it's pretty clear that video marketing is the way to go. Have you seen any video thumbnails showing up in Google's results pages? They're getting more and more popular because everyone loves video. Google loves video! Google loves video so much they paid $1.65 billion to buy YouTube. And more videos are now being shown on Facebook. Read this report: http://news.cnet.com/8301-1023_3-57438332-93/youtube-users-uploading-72-hours-of-video-each-minute/
