Video - How to distribute?

A

A Party Shop

We have a short (approx. 30 secs) but hilarious video which we'd like to distribute and hopefully it'll be popular enough for people to share it over the internet thus creating awareness of the shop and what we do.

It's not a self promotion video or "this is the inside of our shop" video but something funny.

What process should I follow to distribute it or should I employ a 3rd party to do it for me?

Any thoughts much appreciated.

Hi,

No need to employ a 3rd party, why not sign up for a youtube account, if you use twitter tweet the youtube link get people to visit subscribe etc... If you use facebook upload this to your facebook page, and get your friends and family to share the video and upload it to theres etc.

Yeah a youtube channel would be good but then you need to tell people that it exists there. Do you have a website for the shop, a blog, a facebook page and twitter account?

It is hard to be noticed on the Internet so if your target it for example to get to the thousands of views on a youtube video you need to market quite a bit.

Of course if the video is so funny so funny that it goes viral... but it still needs a kickstart. Would one of those sites with funny videos be an option, of forums about funny videos? The more closely related to your geographical location the better. Are you selling online the products of the shop?

No mean to overwhelm you with too many suggestions. Just making sure to understand your target.

Cheers.

Have you considered creating a youtube channel? You can put the video there and then distribute it throughout social media. Use your social network accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, blogs, etc.) to show the video to as many people as possible. Then you can ask your friends, followers, connections to share it with theirs. And you definitely do not need 3rd party to do this for you, you just need to invest some time to see the results :) Good luck!

Online Business Video

Hi,
errr.... why not do both!

Youtube is great (mainly because it's free), but it can be a video wildernesss. Unless promoted heavily the viewing figures for your video can be pitiful. It needs to be pushed as has been said, perhaps via social media. ....problem is , everybody promotes via social media and this just adds to the videos that are screaming for viewers attention. But Youtube and the like is free, so why not. :)

Private video hosting coupled with optimisation for Google needn't be expensive and can produce some superb results (it's something we're going to be launching shortly...as it happens!)
P.M me if you need any more info.

Good Luck.

Paul is right in saying that just because you upload your video to You Tube doesn't mean people will view it.

Videos are now like web sites you have to actively promote them to get people to view them.

I am doing a lot of video work at the moment so feel free to pm me if you need any further advice

Kind regards

How about using a product such as this Video booklet which incorporates a screen into a traditional printed mailer. A short run to some Journalists or Radio stations may create the desired PR to get the URL out on mass?

Youtube is a different marketing tool - Youtube videos are supposed to be entertaining and its a bit difficult to mix entertainment and business, as the average biz website is trying to be Corporate and business-like, so how can you then be entertaining.....

Suggest you look at the top Youtubers list, then compare with the big corporates, and you'll see the difference in views. For businesses - they need a gimmick, viral video and people will focus on Celebrity/Entertainment vids over boring business ones.

Eg:

Rebecca Black - 29,044,838 views

Dr. Martens - 174,695 views

..... big difference, even as both videos are 'professionally produced'.

You can create a Youtube account and upload your video to it but don't ignore the description section below your video. Write a keyword-rich description and include a link back to your website. There are ways to drive traffic to your video and one is to use Tube Toolbox. Of course there are other methods too, which we use including Twitter.

If it's a good video it will be seen on Youtube. As someone said, share it on Facebook, mention it and give a link on Twitter if you have these accounts, and embed it on your website home page.

It may not be an instant success, but in time it may spread. It's hard to tell what will and won't (see on youtube, "Evolution of Dance." This has over 196 million views). I had a flight sim video on Youtube, which for whatever reason, started getting loads of views and now stands at 37,000+ views in two years?!?!?!?!

If it's meant to be, it will be. :)
