Hi,

After 40 years working in blue-chip industries specialising in information architecture/business analysis, I've now established a cost-effective service to help small/medium sized businesses.

It uses a new, simple web-based approach to defining and operating business processes.

Thanks! This is a new venture for me, having been either on a permanent or a full-time contract basis throughout my career. I have a 30 year old daughter called Sian who is autistic, and I am now preparing for her gradual transition to independent living. Providing this service on a part-time basis, which combines my business information architecture skills with the new toolkit I've developed, promises to fit well with these other commitments.

Where do I begin? 1978 I guess, straight out of university with a Maths degree and into a batch Cobol programming job at Cadbury's, armed with ticker tape and punched cards!

I didn't know at the time but I was an information architect in that job, modelling data structures on sequential files so that software could be designed to run without requiring any tape rewinds!

I later got to use process modelling and business information architecture skills in a big way at AstraZeneca, helping them through a merger and countless other business change scenarios.

Large companies tend to be the only ones who benefit from enterprise architecture work due to the cost of specialists like myself. I'm now in a position to offer affordable help to smaller/medium sized companies so they can meet their operational or strategic challenges.

I'd be happy to spend a bit of free time on a proof of concept with anyone who is interested in the service (details via 'Brian Worthington, VIABA' on LinkedIn), because I'm only interested in win-win scenarios!
