vending locations

Hi all,

I paid for some £ 1.00 vending machines a few months ago on ebay ( only 8 )
just to test the water ( bouncy ball and toy plastic balls machines )

After a few 100 leaflets and lots of cold calling in to shops e.c.t i have just 2 on-site:mad:

Their response was "NO HAD THEM BEFORE "

Over the last 4 weeks i have even taken them all to the car boots NO ORDERS
AND ONLY JUST PAID THE SITE FEE OF £ 10.00

Do you think vending is now just old hat, i would love to operate a small round but it's just impossible

Would a website work for vending or is it just pot luck

Thanks
Adrian

Vending machines are just passive income so they should not really be a main business...especially if you're using £1.00 machines. I'm pretty sure the quality of your machines must be really bad if you only paid £1 for each...

Bycold calling do you mean you are using the phone to contact them? If so try going to the shop owners in person. Sometimes meeting them face to face in a presentable manner may work better to convince them.

You are not alone I am afraid. People who come into vending by buying cheap second hand vendors from Ebay, with no support, experience or backing are doomed to fail. Vending is all about the acquisition of the site and not many people are able to acquire their own sites, it is very skillful and knowing what to say, how to say it and to whom you should be speaking to is just the start.

Let's see what we can do to help you, but first, what kind of vendors have you bought and what condition are they in? Be honest about the condition as would be sites would be totally turned off by having an old, scratched, unloved vendors on their premises.

If your vendors are in good condition you then have to identify the sites you wish to obtain. From the way you describe the vendors they appear to be children's novelty machines. Are they outside or inside vendors and what size capsules do they dispense?

When I came into vending over 19 years ago, this is how I started off with children's novelty vendors. Great money if you can acquire the right sites.

Let me know the answers to the questions above, then we can go forward to get those vendors sited and I'll give you some tips to use to encourage the site to accept your vendor.

Look forward to your reply.

Regards.

Unfortunately no one has bothered to tell Coca Cola, Pepsi, Mars, Nestle, Cadbury who all have major vending divisions turning over £billions worldwide. These conglomerates do not consider their vending divisions as residual income. You should also be aware that Vending UK is worth in excess of £3billion annually, having produced many hundreds of millionaires in the process, I'll further say the success of a vending business is down to the commitment, dedication, hard work and aspiration of the individual entering the industry which is the same for any other industry.

Kind regards.

Ok, good luck taking on coca cola. Branson failed, but I'm sure you'll manage to beat them.

Thanks for the confirmation.

35% is way too high, do not even go there as you will not make any money - 20% would be about as much as you could contemplate, even then, it's very high.

I am just about to go away on hols and won't be in the country for about 10 days - when I get back, maybe give me a call and I can give you some tips, but in the meantime, try and find out some good locations for your vendors to go into and try to do some locating. If you get any snags, let me know what they object to then we can overcome those objections. All good fun. :) I love a challenge ...

ANY location where children go. Maybe try and target those sites where the season has not started yet, ie bike rental or leisure activities where kids are going to be going once the weather starts to get warmer.

Approach the site professionally, smile, be presentable and offer them the benefits of having your children's novelty vendors on their site, sell to them they can earn money from dead space and you will make it worth their while. Get them see the benefits of attracting more custom to their location and that you will get hold of the best toys that kids will love, I could go on and on ..... hopefully you will get the jist of what I am trying to say to you. If the person you are speaking to likes you then your chances are much greater in getting the site to accept your vendors.

Speak when I get back and good luck in the meantime.
