Hi is there anyone on here know of any insurers who give a top discount if you have vehicle tracking in your vehicles.

No! Many say they do - we did a test with our vehicles, getting quotes from everyone with and without tracker.

The maximum discount given was £20!

Trackers are great though - you can track everything from where the vehicle is, how long, fuel consumption, service intervals - everything! Handy when you have a fleet!

Thanks im thinking of getting the quartix system i know its a good one its working out at £128.00 including the first three months rent and fitting is this the normal cost or are there cheaper ones out there.

Has streetview mapping as well as map view, geo-fencing with alerts if the vehicle leaves a certain area, or enters an area where it shouldn't be. It can track drivers driving speed and report over speed. Sends alerts to computer or text to your phone.

It also has all the maintenance schedules, keeps mileage reports and records everything - nice little system. Cover uk and europe too!

This costs £450 a year including your first year. After this it is £175/year. That is the purchased system. There is a rental one, which is alot cheaper short term but cannot recall prices! Have a browse on their website. They have a mobile engineer fit the system at your premises too.

I think it is very useful especially for shipping companies, it allow to track not only the trucks but the goods too.

We have just ventured into providing Vehicle Tracking to companies across Wales and England (sorry Scotland and Ireland, not discriminating... you're just out of reach)

They use sim cards to transmit all the information.

It is such a fantastic product/service to sell. We opted for Spoton as it was the easiest to use, feature rich and was pleasant on the eyes.

Vehicle tracking is also going to help companies go green, which I am passionate about.

Also, fuel prices! 1.20 per litre and rising! Jeeeeeeez!

Forgive me, but I might as well point out that we charge £359 per unit and after that it's £10 a month for purchases. We do do rental options ofcourse.

we don't do pay as you go, ourselves, as the sim cards are taken out on contract. its a new venutre for us, most of our new vehicle tracking customers were current customers of our communications services.

it may be something we look into in future if it is available, but thats a different thread..different story .

another great thing about vehicle tracking as an industry is there is a variety of different companies offering different varieties of services, which means that in searching a little deeper you will find what best suits your business.

I also like the fact that a lot of these programs come with a feature that put timesheets and documents together automatically for you... in perfect detail!

Anyone know what the best or recommended system if for a taxi fleet of say 10 cars?

Do you want to purchase or rent?

There's a lot of options available to you. The word to search for online would be 'telematics'.

some taxi companies opt for a bespoke system, which integrates trackers with satnav devices which display the jobs. It may be worth looking into.

We supply entry level trackers and tracking solutions. The system is very good, fun and interesting, but with lots of useful features and its easy to use. Doesn't integrate with Sat Nav devices though.
