Yes if it is only used for business
I did it once for towing a trailer but for what its worth it was not worth the phone call to book it
It was still too slow to get out of its own way once remapped :oops::oops::oops:

    Hi there,

Would it be allowable to put a car ECU engine remap through the business as a business expense when trying to achieve extra miles per gallon?

Is this for a sole trade or a company car?

is a remap really going to give you better fuel consumption
Speaking from a motorbike perspective here, yes it does. Had my bike put on a rolling road and remapped/tuned via power commander, and achieved both loads better fuel consumption and better performance.

Having said that, the prior owner had assumed more fuel makes pocket rocket go faster all time. Not the case, and the mix was way too rich prior to being sorted.

I am operating as a sole trader

Assuming you dont use flat rate expenses I'd treat it the same way as other car costs - servicing, repairs etc ie claim the proportion relating to business use based on mileage.
