VAT Threashold + Registration

Hi,

I was just wondering about the time period relating to reaching the threshold.

For example if I start trading In January 2018 as a sole trader and don't reach £85k turnover before April 5 2018. Does the £0-£85k restart from April 6th 2018 to April 5th 2019.

Or is it simply, 12 months from the date you started trading? e.g. January to January.

Or from this date, in the last 12 months I have turned over 85k, therefore I should register.

It is ANY time in any 12 month period. i.e. not your financial year or a calendar year.
