Hi,

Earlier I had a letter for Interim payment of £450/- per month
I called them I am doing quarterly then I got another letter
Now I have been asked to pay Interim payment of £1600/- per quarter

I am using flat rate scheme and I am trying to submit my quartly vat return but I can't see any period selection area for the quarter period on hmrc site.
I had submitted my first quertly statment and paid accordingly but now I can't see any option for the same.

I would like to submit my sales figures and VAT payable every quarter
and would like to pay whatevery is my vat due to pay for that quarter
why do I need to pay interim.

Please guide

Thanks

Perhaps you need to phone the Vat helpline in order to acertain what the status of your Vat account is.
If you have letters demanding monthly payments it would appear that either you have not submitted some returns or that you havent paid some.

You have to register on the site (HMRC vat) in order to submitt your vat returns online, and if doing so any payments have to be via BACS

I suspect that somewhere along the line you have registered for annual accounting instead of quarterly.

This would explain why you are unable to file a return online (one would not be due until a year after the last) and also why they are asking for interim payments (you pay a monthly estimate during the year and then the balance with the annual return).

Thx Jaydee,
this is I wanted to listen, and I was thinking the same as well.
Yes, I am on annual accounting.
I registered VAT dec. 2007 and I submitted my first return on 31st march 08
and paid accordingly from HMRC website.
I thought I will pay every quarter whatevery is my vat due.
