VAT & Government Gateway Help

A bit of extra information.

I have recently set up a small online business with a friend, I signed up for a Government Gateway account to register as self employed & to register our business(me being the nominated partner), I have had letters confirming both my own self employment & the business, we have both sent our partner registration forms a couple of days ago.

We decided it is best to register for VAT even though our business is unlikely to hit the threshold to have to charge VAT but we want to be able to reclaim the VAT we pay out to the printing company we use for our products but when I log in to my Government Gateway account as instructed by the link for registering the business for VAT it does not have anything about my business or VAT registration.

Can anyone offer me some advice for what I may be missing or need to do?

As this is all new to me so I am still learning on the go.

Not clear from this, but I hope you realise that if you register for VAT then you must charge VAT on your sales

Thanks so much, I did wonder if that was the solution but wished for someone else to confirm before I went ahead with the process.

As I was left a little confused since I had a letter with confirmation of the business.

    Cheers again for the help.
