VAT - business activity change

Hello everyone
I hope you can help me..

So I am VAT registered with my sole trader business which is manufacturing as main business activity and retail as other activity.
If I would like to add some other business activity (like wholesale of a slightly different product) what should I do?
I can’t change or add business activities (Sic code) to my VAT registration, so do I need to deregister and then register again?
I will add that the main business activity will stay the same and this wholesale would probably be one off and under the same trading name.

Guidance on the need to inform HMRC for changes are in the link below. I would very much doubt if HMRC would allow you to deregister then reregister.
