Hi, i am thinking of leasing a van for our company.

We would want to sign it with company logo, contact details etc, at the end of the lease term, if we decide to give it back to lease company i asssume we would have to remove our signage so they can allocate it to a nother client / sell it?

You would need to check as most but not all finance companies allow you to sign write the vehicle as long as it is removable, but yes you would have remove the signage prior to returning the vehicle.

If you don't you would be liable for the costs to remove it (which would be a lot more expensive than doing it yourself.)

Spent all of yesterday taking graphics off of our old van - nightmare! Plus look close enough you can still see the outlines. I know they are not as effective but I would go for magnetics on a lease van.

As an ex fleet manager for over 12 years, managing a fleet of over 1200 vans, I can assure you that I never had any issues removing livery from a vehicle. I would avoid magnetic livery completely. Firstly because they look poor, a cheap alternative to plastic livery and do not set a good impression of your company, and also they do tend to scratch the paint surface and at times fall off.

Normal livery can be removed in so many ways, without damaging the paint work. You can purchase a special liquid that removes the livery and any adhesive, or simply use a plastic tool and a hair dryer.

When returning a lease van back to the funder, as long as livery is removed, they will not bill you for any shadowing. This is expected and quite normal on darker vehicles. Shadowing can actually be reduced by a simple mop shine by a bodyshop. Some funders do not even request for livery to be removed.

If you check your T&Cs it will tell you there. I have also used most if not all UK Leasing Funders and I am yet to meet or use one that has not permitted livery. By doing this they would be pushing themselves out of the massive Commercial Vehicle leasing market!

If you need any further info on livery or leasing a vehicle, please let me know!
