I'm working on a new calculator plugin I can use to demo bespoke features for potential clients.

This is it:

https://variants.loanpaymentplugin.com/simple-calculator-with-application-form/

Ignore the colours for now, they can be easily changed, it's more the words and messages I'd like you to look at. I've been using the same generic messages for ages and just not sure if they do what they are supposed to do very well.

So here are the questions:

1. Slider labels above or inline like this example: https://variants.loanpaymentplugin.com/csv-data-upload/

2. When you apply you see an instruction. Should this display the selected amount/term?

3. Submit without filling in your name. Is it obvious what to do next?

4. Now submit. In the thank-you message, would it be more personal if I just showed your first name?

5. You get a thank-you email, again, just first name or full name? Should I sign the message with my name/company?

    1. Prefer this one - https://variants.loanpaymentplugin.com/simple-calculator-with-application-form/ Far simpler than the other one if I just want to have an idea of monthly repayments. other one may be useful if I wanted to see the interest charges at a glance, but assume this would still be able to be seen further down the line on the first option anyway?

    2. I would assume the selected term and amount are as shown above, so no need to repeat.

    3. Not sure what you mean...if its the warning that the *fields must be filled in then yes, that's obvious

    4. Irrelevant whether it showed my first name or full name - its not going to make me decide whether to proceed or not.

    5. Just to reinforce who they are dealing with I would use the opportunity to remind them of your name/company

Thanks. With regards Q1 it was just he position of the slider labels (they are totally different plugins. In the demo they are above the sliders, in the other example they are next to the value.

I prefer the sliders next to the value.

Yes, this can be a textarea. Right now this is just a demo. There are options to add dropdowns, captcha and all sort of other fields.

This is one I built earlier:

    https://applicationform.loanpaymentplugin.com/

And the actual calculator can have all sorts of things:

    https://variants.loanpaymentplugin.com/repayments

The one you are reviewing here is just the framework I can use to build custom plugins for clients. I'm trying to make my life as simple as possible. That way I can turn round a project more quickly but still charge a decent amount.

Actually, I probably shouldn't have said that.

Me too. Only problem I've found is countries with large denominations run out of space on mobile phones.
Good point - I was looking at in on desktop screen.

Sliders will have to go above when on mobile screens then!

When people build websites they always do so using a desktop. But as most people use a phone to browse what you should do is build your website using the browser tools to view it in mobile view. You will then realise how rubbish many websites are.

Same approach when building plugins - I only ever use my phone to test the layouts.

I've been fiddling. Labels have moved and the outputs work better on small screens.

If you fill in the form the email you get should feel more personal.

And I've fixed the tracker. It means you can see if people are filling in the form. A screenshot is on the demo page.
