Hello,

Can business rewards such as credit card points be used personally?

The following HMRC article on the Gov UK website seems to state it is okay as far as I can tell.

Would just like confirmation before I go ahead a do something I shouldn't.

I can't post a link so please search for "Employment Income Manual EIM21618", the page should be top result.

Thanks

Are you an employee using an employer-issued card, wanting to use points for your personal use; are you a sole trader using a card in your business name; or are you the owner of a company wanting to use company issued credit card points for your personal use?

The article you refer to is looking at rewards acquired through purchases on an employee's personal credit card where that purchase is reimbursed by the employer, say employees personally pays train fare and claims expense back from employer.

Your question is presumably re points earned on the company's credit card, so that guidance is not so relevant.

Thanks for clearing this up for me.
