I have setup a business for importing goods from China and the importer is providing Trade assurance. I can pay via credit card.

Will this provide me with additional protection and also can I use my personal credit card as I don't have a business credit card?

Is this trade assurance through Alibaba? I believe they charge a 2.8% fee for using a credit card.

You can use a personal credit card and record it to your directors loan account and repay back to yourself when you can.

I'm unsure whether using a credit card will offer you more protection. I imagine it would only cover you for what's in the contract, the same as the trade assurance will.

Correct, through Alibaba.

My worry was on stories of alibaba usually siding with the seller.

Also had concerns on whether the card purchase would still be protected if I'm making a business goods purchase, even though I'm using a personal credit card.

It'd not a huge purchase. Maybe adds up to £45. A bank transfer would cost at least £15 anyway.

Would there be a difference in rate and would I be charged a DC fee on the card?
