Hi

I think something has gone wrong, can anyone help identify what the heck I have done, all I can see on the site is html code

solutionfacilities.co.uk

Thanks in advance for any tips...
Yes, the code has been changed (did you cut and paste it into a WYSIWYG editor?)

You are not actually seeing the source, the source for e.g. the header looks like this:

&lt;title&gt;</span>Facilities Management Solutions | Cleaning Services | Grounds Maintenance | Kent South East&lt;/title&gt;

when it should look like:

<title>Facilities Management Solutions | Cleaning Services | Grounds Maintenance | Kent South East</title>

You need to "cut and paste" the code again, but this time save it as the source :)

Hiya !

Thanks for your reply -I'd forgotten the ftp details of the old host, so went in on Chrome, viewed source then saved as ... so that must have altered it.

I'm not sure how to change it back even with your kind help, how do I change it again just save as a .html extension on each file?

The easiest way is to look at each page in a browser, cut what you see and paste into a text file. Call the text file [FILENAME].html (eg index.html etc).

Once you have done each one, upload it via ftp to replace the file you had.

This will obviously only work with static HTML files and not PHP etc.

Steve

EDIT: make sure notepad does not save the files as filename.html.txt - if you have hidden file extensions, it has a habit of doing this. To get around it, in the "save as" box, put double quotes around the name like "index.html" :)

It shouldn't be a problem if you've forgotten the password of your FTP account offered by your previous host. You might have the details of the FTP account provided by your current host, you must take a backup for all the files before proceeding with making any changes to them.

You may even use the web hosting control panel to take backup of your database. Then using a site editor such as Dreamweaver or any of your preference you can make the necessary changes to the code and upload those files back to the server and check if everything is sorted.

All the Best !! Do keep us posted with the updates :)

Hiya eukhost

The update is that I'm just copying/pasting. I did have updates of the pages but I questioned myself so don't know if my backups were ok

As far as we're going, the pages are getting slowly uploaded

Thanks everyone you are wonderful
