Hi,

Slightly odd query...

Our company is registered as limited company, but companies house does not show any SIC/Business Activity.

How do we update to show the correct SIC/Business activities without submitting a full annual report?

Thanks

The SIC code is normally shown on the company's annual return on form 363. This is not the annual accounts, which are quite different, and it is normally filed each year on the anniversary of incorporation.

If you need to show an activity code (I'd guess it's because some bank is faffing about the need for it  ) then you can choose to file the return earlier than the due date. It costs £30 to file the paper return but you can do this online for £15, with the advantage that the sections about directors and secretary will be pre-populated. You'll have to add the shareholders on the first one, but then they will be there on future returns as well.

If you file a return early, the 12 month clock is restarted, so the next one will be 12 months from now, and you won't have to file one on what was the original due date.

    David,

    Thanks for your prompt reply.

I guess we're not the only one's where the banks "faff" about, yeah the bank wrote to us and said we NEED to update this with companies house, i personally don't see a problem the company is 8 years old and we've operated fine without any SIC/Business Activity listed, we're not lending from the bank either.

Problem is we've just filed our annual return (online) in June and your correct it cost £15. So do we have to do it again or can we merely wait until next time round?

    Cheers

I'd wait until you file the next return.

Did you file your return with no codes whatsoever, or with an inappropriate/ out of date code? I thought that the online system wouldn't accept returns with no codes, but I haven't filed one myself for quite a while.

If the bank harp on about it, tell them that the annual return is the only way that this can be changed, so you'll do it on the next form.
