updating an old sage with a newer version???

Hiya

We have version instant accounts version 14.10.10 - we have got different computers/laptops since we bought this so is now only on the desktop computer at my boyfriends mechanic unit - we want to get it on his laptop so he can bring invoices etc in the evening and we also want it on my computer at home so I can do month ends etc.

Basically can we just buy the current version of sage instant accounts and will it just move all the information over?

You could just buy the latest version and the data will upgrade. Bear in mind however, that a single user licence for Instant one allows the software to be installed on a single PC so you could not install it on his computer and your laptop - if you want to do that, you'd have to buy an additional 'laptop' licence.

Newer versions of sage seem to need ever more machine resources. This is annoying for people who like to buy fairly cheap computers.

Sage are not the only culprits, but are one of them.

Why do they do it? Surely running a few business programmes shouldn't require a cutting edge computer.
