Hi,

We are a small software company developing windows software and are looking for remote support software with the following functionality:

  • Ability to start a new remote session without any user interaction
  • Ability to have a user start a remote support session and let us view their desktop directly (bypassing any windows login screens)
  • (optional) A plugin for our website that gives the user an easy way to start a support session

We currently use GoToAssist but that does not give us the unattended session start functionality. We recently upgraded to gotomanage but when a user requests a support session it takes us to a login screen, starting a new login session which is not that we want for troubleshooting purposes. We then went back to goto assist.

Thanks in advance!

We use Logmein and Logmein Rescue to achieve this.

Thanks for the replies. ISL actually offer all the features we needed (and access to all their products) for about half the price of gotoassist. We are currently running both gotomanage, gotoassist and isl in conjunction to provide a failsafe.

I'm going to go off to a slightly different route and recommend Bomgar. I find it more stable than [edit - wrong product!] LogMeIn, but it does require you to host a physical system somewhere.

Mind you, that physical system can be on the wrong end of an ADSL link with a dynamic IP (using dynamic DNS) and it still works just fine.

ISL are brilliant, we have never had a problem with them and like you say their prices are much more reasonable. Plus you get Pronto which allows you to have Live Chat on your site, group meeting software and always on which is a godsend. All this is included in the price. you can add alternative users if needed as well.

Oh and one more thing if you have an iPhone you can use it to connect to other PC's using the ISL app.

Hello,

We use a company called simple-help dot com. They charge a one off fee, and you host the actual server part of the software yourself. There is not ongoing monthly fees - which is what attracted me to it in the first place.

You can then install the remote software on your client PCs and access them unattended. Works on Java too - so can be used on most operating systems.

I would recommend deploying on premise RHUB remote support appliances in order to remotely access computers from anywhere. It is very easy to use wherein, you can remotely start an unattended support session so that you can access a remote computer any time later without any assistance from your customer.
