I've had a pretty competitive quote from UK Mail for parcel delivery.

Anyone had any experiences? I'm reading more horror stories about them than Hermes. The only delivery I ever had from them (from Argos) was a failure. And I hear Ipostparcels is even worse.

Got InExpress coming to see me about European delivery through them.

We use them as our primary carrier (actually their ipost parcels) they're OK. Far better than CityLink we used before.

We have the occasional parcel go on a detour (Manchester to Warringtom via Exceter) but they have called us before 9am to advise us.

Invoice queries (such as the one above) are resolved without issue.

Interestingly, I had a missed delivery from them today (monitor), I went onto their web site, entered the card reference number, and selected pick up from depot tomorrow.

A minute later I had a text telling me they would attempt to deliver again tomorrow, when I'm again not going to be in :(

Tried to change it to pick up from depot again, and it's no longer letting me change the options. Hum ho.

Some people on here seem to like them. My own personal experience is that they are the worst courier i have ever used by a long way. Ok until something goes wrong and then its a complete nightmare. Last year i tried quite a number of couriers each with 10 parcels all delivered ok without any real issues apart from UKMail / Ipost parcels we had issues with 6 of the parcels 2 of which never turned up cost me £600 and i have lost 2 other regular customers. Their customer service department do not have a clue what's going on and provide no help at all. In the end we went with Interlink (due to recommendations on here), although they are more expensive the stress has gone. The biggest problem is that couriers only seem to get bad reviews which you can find for all of them. However in my experience UK Mail are the only ones who constantly disappointed.

Just to follow on from my last post, this morning I called them at 8am to try and confirm if the package was out for delivery or waiting at the depot - their web site said it would be delivered between 9:17 and 10:17, but showed nothing in the history of "out for delivery" for today.

The call centre said they wouldn't know until 9:30am, so I called them at 9:30 and they told me it was scanned first thing this morning as waiting for collection - the text message they sent me last night was "in error". Waste of a few hours to wait for a package that was never going to arrive.

I'm unsure on UKMail's service to businesses, but to the end receivers, it's far from fantastic.

    I quote from the link:

""The solution is customers need to put pressure on retailers to stop inflicting this type of delivery on us. Any customer who has an abominable delivery service should complain to the retailer and ask them to justify why they use firms with dire reputations and pressure them to add other options."

No, the solution is for customer to stop expecting and be prepared to pay higher delivery charges. But do they? No, because firms like Amazon offer free delivery, forcing the rest of us to follow suit. It's all very well and good if you are selling something unique, but if you are competing with them, what do you do? Even if you're not competing with a like-for-like offering, the customers just look at the £ sign.
