I'm looking to get a UK based VPS. Can anybody recommend a good linux based VPS host?

It needs not be very powerful(512MB of RAM and a few GB of disk space are enough), but it should have good connectivity to the internet, excellent uptime(as close to 100% as possible) and decent bandwidth (at least 1TB/month).

Any suggestions would be great.

Hi,

We offer a range of OnApp (KVM) based VPSes at http://www.webhostingbuzz.co.uk/virtual-private-servers.php

Our servers are fully UK based, owned by us, operated by us and in a Tier 3.5 UK datacentre.

We offer a range of management plans and have a full 24x7 team.

Here are what our customers say about us - http://www.shopperapproved.com/reviews/www.webhostingbuzz.com/

Thanks
Matt

@astutiumRob - it is indeed the amount of data transfered, but it's usually refered to as bandwidth.

We currently only use 12-24GB of data transfer on any one of our servers, but it's going to work as a proxy server to our in house datacenter so it might use more.

Also many thanks for all the suggestions. I'll check them out and see which best suits our needs.

Hi there,

I couldn't recommend the guys from Web Hosting Buzz enough - you couldn't be in better hands!

Unlike most, they are not a 'reseller' or manage a handful of servers in a 3rd party data centre - they own the kit, operate a full 24x7 support desk and a sizeable organisation!

Best of luck with your search!

@WebHostingBuzz - Matt Tier 3.5?

@wykthorr I can see you have been inundated with offers already. If you still have not made your choice then Fortis Hosting could offer you a server with a 2.6GHz vCPU, 1GB ram, and 10GB of space for £10.99 per month. In the past year we saw 99.999% uptime, with a 100% uptime on our connectivity. Our data suite is housed in a UK based, tier 4 data centre that offers us full redundancy on all our infrastructure. We have no contracts and we do not inflict any restrictions on your bandwidth.

We have a large number of customers who have set-up proxy servers within our infrastructure and it is something we understand well.

Give us a go. We won't disappoint.

Yes. Our UK facility is Tier 3.5 (only 1 substation) meaning it can't be truthfully called Tier 4. Our Phoenix, US facility is Tier 4 and our Atlanta, US facility is Tier 3.

Which of the RapidSwitch facilities is Tier 4? All are about 2 to my knowledge.
