UK based Linux hosting

I've always used Netcetera before and have been very pleased with them, however my new website uses Wordpress. Netcetera are not able to offer a shared hosting Linux/Apache solution and Windows is causing various mostly minor bugs with plugins etc. The best Netcetera can do is offer a bare bones Linux VPS at£14.99 a month. I don't have the technical knowledge to confidently install the required software and need the support so I have decided to move this website to a different web host. Can anyone advise a good UK based hosting company that can provide shared Linux Apache hosting (or VPS if supported)?

Any client testimonials/awards would be a bonus, I'm a bit wary as I have used a number of web hosting companies before and Netcetera have been the only one I have been happy with.

Thanks

Anna

    Hi Anna,

We can offer you either Linux shared hosting or a VPS solution. I would personally have said to go for a shared platform as a VPS would probably be overkill for what you need.

You can see the plans at the link below but do get in touch if you have any questions :)

    Hi Anna,

Shared Linux web hosting would seem the most appropriate option for Wordpress hosting. We offer a range of Linux accounts which include 'Installatron' to enable Wordpress to be installed without technical knowledge via our control panel or we can install it on your behalf.

Our Linux Bronze account starts at 31.99 (with UKBF discount code UKBF20) and include a 30 day money back guarantee. We can of course assist with transferring your domain across, etc.

I would recommend looking at a shared hosting account rather than VPS, do you really need root access and do you want to have to maintain security via the command line yourself.

My supposedly managed VPS account was recently hacked and was DDOSing out. I was oblivious until I saw my traffic increase so much that I was automatically being bumped up to the next tariff every 24 hours. My tariff cost jumped by 400% in 3 days.

Have a look at packages offered via this site that offer cpanel/whm- imo it is the best non command line back-end management system.

BTW AVOID FASTHOSTS- they are evil...........

    Hi Anna,

As long as your not looking for cheap generic hosting we have something that would be perfect for you.

Our hosting has been built to host WordPress and only WordPress. With our shared solution your site is available on multiple web servers, if one server goes down then the load balancer routes requests to a different web server. (nginx + apache)

Nightly backups, should the worst happen you can restore individual files or directories to how they were yesterday or even last week.

We know WordPress, if you have any issues we should be able to help you out.

If you outgrow our shared hosting or just want faster page loads then you can upgrade at any time to dedicated apache instances. So instead of sharing an apache web server with other customers you have an apache instance (or more load balanced) dedicated just to your website. You will then benefit from an opcode cache and dedicated resources that will give you super fast page load speeds and the resources you'll need for a high traffic site. It's like having the power of VPS without the need for any technical expertise.

So a shared solution for £9pm (£90 yearly). Dedicated Apache instances are a further cost, starting from £10pm depending on your traffic requirements.

Send us a PM or give us a call if you have any questions.

    Simon

As far as hosting providers go we support easy install of WordPress via cPanel as much as the next host.

What we also bring to the table is the fact that we work with WordPress and many of it's plugins on a daily basis, so we can also provide WordPress help and advice to help you achieve your goals. We usually install WordPress for customers too, if they don't want to use our easy install via fantastico and cPanel.

Enough chit chat. I believe you asked for testimonials:

Here are words from some of our current clients (the majority of our clients use wordpress). I'm sure if you contact them directly they will tell you what they honestly think of our service, uptime, reliability and pledge to provide outstanding customer support.

If you're interested our plans are here: rxhost.co.uk/v1/uk-web-hosting/

Even if we're not the right fit for you, I would be more than happy to help you compare and decide between your final choices.

If you have any questions about web hosting, please don't hesitate to ask.

    Best of luck.

    Hi,

We could offer either shared hosting on a UK based cloud server or a uk based cloud server (VPS) hosted in manchester.

although unless you have some quirky wordpress plugins (that cause high cpu usage) shared hosting should be fine

our server's are linux Cpanel with Varnish (for static content acceleration), softaculous (for easy script installation) and ASSP anti-spam (which is a madly powerful anti-spam system)
we have two geographically dispersed DNS servers (one in maidenhead and one in Dallas)

if i can help pm me.

    Hello Anna,

We can offer you our shared hosting plans which we believe will suit you best. We can point or transfer your domain and get your account transferred all inclusive of the price. We also offer a unique care package which means we can take over upgrading/installation of any scripts like wordpress etc.

We are also running a big discount this month. Please see - http://themonkeypc.co.uk/hosting-services/shared-hosting.html

You will have access to my personal number should any issues arise or should you need any questions answering.

    Regards,
