Yes, anyone interested in following me in my social media marketing travels and general ramblings about business and non business life -
http://twitter.com/Jason_Barrett

Oh, and tomorrow (well today now) is the official launch of http://www.twitorfit.com/ so expect particular nonsense coming from that end of the room...

another "interesting" twitter app is http://www.twollo.com/ - this won't be for everyone (not something that I use on my account) but if you want to follow people based around certain keywords that they have been twittering on about - this will do that for you, automatically. Maybe good if you want to find out who is talking about you and your business????

Then if that has got you going http://twitter.com/downloads has a bunch of useful downloads to make twittering a little less hassle - although can become very addictive when you have a mobile version - and friends of mine start twittering drunken messages.....maybe not ideal for the corporate world!

Hope that is useful for some.

...oh and just to add to that, i've been looking for a way to manage multiple twitter accounts for a while.

Theres a few options out there, and one or two that I have tried before but never really liked for one reason or another, but I managed to come across one today that seems to be good for now...

I've written a blog about it here http://smuvrd.wordpress.com/2008/12/15/manage-multiple-twitter-accounts-in-one-place/

It depends who you follow. Some folks mainly tweet with friends and family, so they just tell you what they're cooking, what TV programmes they're watching, or that they're about to take a bath!

However I found some tweet peeps that share great links to info I wouldn't have time to look for, or wouldn't know they existed.

That's what I was thinking Simon :):D:p To me it appears as though you put a message on there every minute - 'I'm taking a pee' - 'I'm now washing my hands' etc etc.

Hmmm, can't grasp the concept :(

There are definitely some Twitterers who go into great detail about everything they've done or are about to. I've only been doing it for a bit but I've found some good contacts and links like just.b says. I promise not to discuss my bodily functions and dinner ingredients if anyone wants to follow me http://twitter.com/stallfinder

Is Twitter just a way of sending out small messages about what you're doing? I don't get it :|

It's for people suffering from AD/HD which is the reason it's limited to 147 characters. After years of study 147 characters is when most of them either give up, get bored or forget what they where twittering about. ;)

I twitter (Bookmarklee) - the main motivation for doing so was because I found Tweetlater that enables me to set up tweets in advance. I then use my twitter feed to update my status on Facebook and on Ecademy.

I'm still experimenting with Twitter and post a variety of topics and links - more business than social I would say but not too many self promoting as I know that can be a turn off.

Having said that I wrote a blog post yesterday: Twitter is not for accountants

I think I made my points fairly and clearly. So far no one has come out strongly with a contrary view. I almost hope someone does.

That's EXACTLY how I see it. Not sure I can get my head round it yet. I see some Twitters where people link to literally every page of their own website.. looks like a link farm to me.

One day Google will blacklist it... and that will be that :)

I think Twitter suspend your account if you repeatedly link to your own site and nothing else.

We use twitter /blevinsfranks and we post new items from our blog.

We have some followers and its growing, but I dont think its in proportion to the page views on the blog.

We decided not to tweet all day, I have followed some people doing that, but honestly cant quite see how our clients and readers would be interested in the fact that I had just had a black coffee and blueberry muffin . ( mind you its was scrummy.....)

Had an interesting conversation at the Creative Coffee Club in Leicester today about the use of Twitter. There's a "Network of networks" called Amplified. They meet regularly and talk on different subjects. Now Keynote speakers get recorded on video, journalists make extensive notes, but conversations between members of the "audience" never get recorded. What they ask people to do at Amplified is a short tweet about what interested them/grabbed them/etc. during their wsession conversations. By inserting the session number in the tweet, it was possible to build up a record of each session - which were recorded here
