I took a lease for a pub from a main brewery and had to take all the staff on that they had employed, however the business did not work out and we handed the lease back to the brewery. They intially told me that they would put in a holding company and take the staff on, which was considerably less than when I took over.
In the end the brewery gave me 4 days notice that they were closing the pub and I had to pay the staff off.
However, the pub only stayed closed for a week and the brewery put in a holding company.
Surely this is wrong and they should have kept within the TUPE guidelines. Have I or my staff got any rights?
