Trustpilot

Hi,

Been looking at Trustpilot as an option and decided to see if they include themselves in the review system, they do, and it doesn't make good reading.

Whats your feeling on Trustpilot ????
£75 a month does seem expensive, and when your on there, there is no way to get yourself removed.

We use trustpilot and on the whole have been very happy with it. I do smile at some of the reviews on the link you have below from disgruntled customers who say that trustpilot pander to companies re removing negative reviews. I wish that was the case! We absolutely dread getting a negative review - fortunately we get very few of them. When we do, there is no question of trustpilot simply removing it. We have only asked them to remove one once and in the end it was the customer who removed it after we had contacted them. Their review was completely unfair which they did evenually accept. For the small number of other negative reviews, we have left feedback explaining things from our end. If we were in the wrong we would say so and apologise.

Trustpilot is quite popular/recognisable so that's a big plus. The disadvantage (at least for small time sellers) is rather high monthly fee. (how much extra business you would have to get in direct result of Trustpilot to make back £75 each month?)

But what worries me even more is those user reviews on the site itself - I did read few dozen and after reading them, I don't want to even try the service... I highly doubt so many (hundreds of people) would leave such bad reviews for no reason whatsoever?

I hate review sites and feel that it is a bloody con, if you get a page on one of these sites every customer that orders the wrong item or doesn't get there item next day even though it quite Cleary states the turnaround time will use a review to leverage what they can out of you.

Don't get me wrong if you are happy to pay the £1000+ yr this company charges to have more control over reviews and send out more requests to thin these out then they can improve conversions but god help you if you don't.

Also another thing that bloody annoys me with review sites is that if you don't pay the £1000 to send out request to leave feedback on these types of sites then 99% of the time you only get bad reviews (we have 1000's of customers that return but only seem to ever get an email of nice comments where as customers who order the wrong item or delivery is not instant hunt out these sites and leave a bad review) which then gives other people a bad view of your company.

All in all I would equate it to the review system on eBay which works as a nice way to bride extras out of the sellers.

ive been speaking to a few friends and customers, asked their opinion and i was surprised by the amount who either didn't know trustpilot or said, if a site had/didn't have trustpilot it wouldnt affect their decision at all aslong as the price was cheap.

i then asked if they knew a site had terrible customer service, got hammered on trustpilot, would they still buy, they said aslong as it was cheaper, that surprised me !!!

lol, your friends are def. not market average targets then! :)

Reviews do play a HUGE role in buying making decisions - both product and merchant wise. Just take a look @ Amazon - they literary built their success on the review system and still keep pushing it hard and use as main vehicle for search results.

I use Trustpilot on a site and to be perfectly honest it's a really good little system but I don't think I'll be renewing it. I'm going to try out getting our own reviews in for a bit because it's cheaper and the end results are going to be exactly the same.

Surely that depends on the product, I wouldn't buy a new camera say, if all the reviews were bad, unless I thought the people reviewing were the wrong target, eg pro's looking at standard cameras.

However if I knew the product and like it, the reviews would be irrelavent, and the price would be more the issue.
