unsociable hours is the real killer.Once the shop is closed then there is the couple of hours cleaning down everything.Food hygeine inspectors change what they want on a regular basis. One year tiles are in vogue another it will be a different type of wall finish. These were all problems my dad faced.as also mentioned there are many ways to cook the food.Different frying oils different ways to do the chips.Fresh or frozen fish and more.
Over the years my dads shop had loads of offers to buy him out due to its popularity but that wasnt down to location it was down to reputation which is hard to buy.

Please, please, please come and do it here (near Pattaya, Thailand). I'll help you with any info you want. :D

Hi,
I've been in the business 15yrs., find me some one to finance it and my wife and I would gladly oblige.

Seriously, we are looking for another venture but our money unfotunately is tied up in a French property at the moment.

Regards
Steve and Glyn.

The best place to discuss opening a Fish and Chip Shop is at chippy-chat.co.uk these boys and girls know what there talking about. They are very helpful and enthusiastic, most of them own award winning chippys.

If your looking for secondhand, new, used, and reconditioned equipment try this site alfsads.com . It buys and sells all sorts of catering, restaurant and fast food equipment.

You would be better buying a reconditioned frying range to start off with. A secondhand fryer range would be a lot cheaper.

The federation of fish friers (try saying it when you drunK) run courses for people wanting to learn how to run a chippy, try this site federationoffishfriers.co.uk

Fish and chip shop equipment for sale at Alfs Ads alfsads.com

This is a book you might like to read 'How to Start and Run a Chip Shop or Burger Bar' amazon.co.uk/Start-Burger-Small-Business-Starters/dp/1845283082/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1264715411&sr=8-1-spell

Rumblers and chippers are for sale at Alf's Ads alfsads.com

I hope this was helpful, the chippy chatters will take care of you!

A good fish and chip shop can be an absolute goldmine as long as you use good quality products. I think demographics play a big role, if there is a lot of fast food outlets in your area or an already few established fish and chips shops in your area then this could prove tricky.

Are you digging up random old threads for a reason, or just to get your post count up?

Love owning a Fish & Chips shop - Hard work though no lie especially if your a Good Fish & Chips Shop. If anyones near Fleetwood come check us out - Search Chatties Chippy on Google and view our website Chatties.co.uk

I used to live in Fleetwood, and you're still my mum and dad's local chippy. Good luck with it, I had some chips from your chippy last time I was over there, they were very good! Chippies seem to be disappearing, so good to see one doing well.
